Position Purpose

The Senior Product Manager will work closely with clinicians, jurisdictions, vendor partners and internal Infoway subject matter experts to evolve and support the implementation of standards products they are accountable for.

We are looking for an experienced product leader with a technical background and who is knowledgeable in interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, IHE, SNOMED CT, pCLOCD, etc.).

Major Responsibilities

  • Support the creation, maintenance and execution of the product roadmap within the context of a strategic product management framework.
    • Build out an effective product strategy in alignment with the Shared Pan-Canadian Interoperability Roadmap
    • Through engagement with provincial and territorial government stakeholders, clinical system vendors, clinicians, and Infoway team members, support the ongoing prioritization of roadmap items based on factors which include user adoption.
    • Liaise with the Infoway’s Architecture and Development team to understand the interdependencies between products and interoperability building blocks impacting the evolution of the roadmap and ensure that the roadmap continues to evolve in alignment.
    • Participate in industry events to help inform the evolution of Infoway’s product roadmap based on international experience with interoperability initiatives.
    • Maintain and update the roadmap, and support the validation, alignment, and evolution of priorities through continued discussions with key stakeholders and the broader Infoway team.
  • Support discussions with provincial and territorial government stakeholders to identify and align on opportunities to leverage Infoway’s standards to further jurisdictional objectives.
    • Develop a deep understanding of how Infoway’s standards can deliver value to jurisdictions, vendor partners and clinicians.
    • Work with government stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities and identify how Infoway’s existing standards can meet these needs or understand opportunities for product evolution.
    • Lead discussions with government stakeholders related to how Infoway products will fit into their environment (including integration with existing jurisdictional assets), with a strong focus on ensuring that technical implementation supports the clinical and business needs.
    • Engage vendor partners to deepen their understanding of Infoway’s standards and partner with vendors to support the implementation of interoperability standards.
    • Lead or support in structuring an implementation approach and high-level plan with jurisdictions, vendor partners and Infoway as stakeholders.
  • Engage in the product standards development process for identified roadmap priorities.
    • Working closely with Infoway technical staff, support, and lead parts of the collaborative standards development process (including standards evolution through working groups, ballot processes, and other engagements).
    • Drive continuous focus on the clinical perspective and value proposition for end users.
    • Work to develop supporting assets, such as target state clinical workflow best practices or sample requirements, to ensure consistency between jurisdictional implementations is maximized.

Education

  • Undergraduate Degree in related field is required. MBA, or other related graduate-level education, preferred.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in product management, delivery and execution, with a demonstrated understanding of how to deliver and implement products from conception to initial pilot and evolution.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working on digital health / interoperability initiatives.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with applicable Health IT standards (such as HL7, IHE, SNOMED CT, pCLOCD, etc.). Familiarity with concepts such as IHE integration profiles, FHIR profiling, implementation guides, terminology artifacts is considered an asset.
  • Phenomenal written and verbal communications skills. Tactically, excellent preparation and presentation skills to facilitate engagements with executive audiences, and experience in writing formal briefing notes and proposals.
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer facing role, ideally related to technology implementation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders and resolve conflicts and issues demonstrating strong negotiation, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to understand client needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions leveraging strong business analysis skills, with the ability to research and assemble relevant information.
  • Experience working with or interacting with provincial or territorial government stakeholders, is an asset.
  • Experience supporting clinical change management and adoption activities, including workflow analysis and training, is an asset.
  • Hands on experience with system integrations (e.g., APIs), documentation and implementation guides, is an asset.
  • Experience working for a clinical vendor partner system (e.g., EMR, HIS, PMS) or jurisdictional technological systems (e.g., Drug Information Systems) is an asset
  • Self-starter: High level of initiative and self-direction displayed.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time.
